My art and writings
After I painted the red and the blue nude abstract I realized that I was only painting attractive people. So I decided to paint a less attractive person, but on the way I decided to make her large but still beautiful and happy. Also thought doing some unique coloration would be fun.
Not sure what I’ll do with this one, the family probably thinks it belongs in the garage under the dog crate. But I sort of like it.
So this one started as a vague notion to do a monochromatic abstract. As I did it I realized I wanted a subtle image among the lines. I decided on the naked bodies, because, well, naked bodies. I found that I like painting naked bodies.
I did a companion piece in blue, but it is not good. I’ll keep trying on that one.
This one was for my friend Mark Corrigan from a photo he took. I was trying for a grainy look instead of a smooth blending.
I like doing dancers and athletes. This is a mesh of two photos, with a different background. I think I like it but we’ll see if it improves with age.
It was my birthday so I made a cake. I was feeling blue, so the colors came out a little different. But I like it.
My first commission, Carly asked for a painting for her dorm room.
Again got caught between realism and intentions for abstraction. that’s ok, it was kind of an experiment. I think I’ll do more dancers.
I think this one speaks for itself.
Always hard to decide what to paint, liked this photo. This is in my comfort zone, really need to break out soon.
I forgot that I like doing charcoal, especially for portraits. Faces are hard, they have to be perfect, and this one isn’t quite… but I’m ok with it. Dusty looks pretty good.
